A Touch Vampyrrhic

My name is Simon Clark. I'm the author of Vampyrrhic, Blood Crazy, The Midnight Man and a whole veinful of other horror novels. In this blog I plan to post updates, photos, films and news about my new Vampyrrhic novel, Whitby Vampyrrhic.

The book will be out from Severn House in hardcover in December, 2009 (don't let me be the one to use the phrase 'ideal Christmas present for fans of all things eerie and vampiric ;--) ) Anyhow, this is the early days for the blog. There's lots more to come and I invite all my fellow night creatures to wing your way here whenever you wish.

The cover is being produced by the extremely capable and talented art department at Severn House. Meanwhile, here's the catalog description of WHITBY VAMPYRRHIC:

'In wartime Britain, vampires claim the night. Winter, 1942: Beth, Sally and Alec arrive in the mysterious seaport of Whitby to begin work on the feature film This Midnight Realm. They are the only guests in an eerie hotel that is connected to the ocean by a subterranean tunnel. What does hotelier Eleanor Charnwood hide in the basement? What caused the bite-marks on her reclusive brother, Theo? And what, exactly, roams the night-time streets in search of victims? Simon Clark takes the reader into the unique occult territory he created for his cult best-seller Vampyrrhic. Beware...Here you'll encounter Nosferatu, a Viking curse, and men and women that must fight for their very souls.'

At the top of the page is a photograph of Whitby - once described by Arthur Machen as 'a town of a magic dream.'This is the ancient seaport where Stoker's Dracula came ashore in England (there were earlier Viking invasions, too). Few people who visit can ever forget it. Prepare for more nocturnal enchantments to come...
